Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This is a 2nd and 3rd grade classroom. Our students come from beautifully diverse backgrounds and have diverse learning needs as well.

My students benefit from participating in Social and Emotional Learning experiences, where they can develop strategies to support self-control, and discover and celebrate their own identities.

I am looking to create a classroom environment and learning opportunities that capture the diverse learning styles, interests, and abilities of all my students. I need your help and support to make this possible.

My Project

Social and Emotional Learning will be very important this year. My students will participate in restorative practices where they will discuss their thoughts and feelings while building classroom community. Adding special details like beautiful lighting, comfortable seating, and gentle sounds helps create an environment where students feel safe, and want to share. Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. Many of my students benefit from extra sensory input tools to help them focus and learn.

My goal is to have inviting and safe spaces throughout the classroom with a variety of equipment that provides students with individualized social and emotional learning tools to help them calm and focus themselves so they can be better prepared for learning and interacting with others.
