Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Welcome to Room 134! Our school is in downtown Springfield, MA. It is a neighborhood school, meaning all of the children walk to and from school each day. This has created strong relationships between parents and teachers because we get to interact with each other every day.

We are classroom that is built more like a family.

In room 134, we have worked hard to build strong relationships between students, teachers, and families. We are all dedicated to learning, loving, and laughing with each other. Our classroom is completely filled with joy and laughter.

However, our school is also located in a poverty-stricken area in which resources are often difficult to access. Due to the lack of resources, the education of these children may suffer. It is my goal to provide these children with the resources they need to grow and succeed.

My Project

Throughout the day, I often turn off the lights in the classroom to give the children a sense of peace and relaxation. My goal is to provide the students with peaceful lighting while they are at their centers. I would like to have one small lamp at each center to eliminate the harsh classroom lighting and have the children centered and focused while doing independent work.

The children are in dire need of comfortable reading spaces.

They will come to develop a love for reading if they are relaxed and comfortable while reading independently. I would love to provide them with a comfy rug and pillows for them to lay back and relax while they are independently reading.
