Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are so incredibly special. They have special needs, but what makes them more unique are their differences. They come from different cultures and love learning about one another. Since they are becoming young adolescents, they are developing and need to appropriate social-emotional skills and guidance to navigate the social world successfully.

I hope to teach them how to be respectful in the way they express themselves, interact with others, and become responsible members of society.

My students will use the cutouts to express their thoughts, the motivational posters will foster respect and the SEL workbooks will give them the opportunity to express their emotions appropriately. In this way, we can also learn about each other's culture and respect each other's differences. The social studies resources will provide a learning platform where we can explore differences between other cultures.

My students use different learning resources to learn best. Some are motivated with artistic resources such as twistable crayons and glitter gel pens. I hope to supplement the academic lessons with the students' reflections and representations such as the different toned-skin face cutouts as well as animal cutouts such as the butterfly. I use positive reinforcements and earned rewards throughout the week such as sweet treats. In this way, I can use these resources to motivate my students to engage in their best learning.
