My Project

Our school is a Title One school, meaning all of our students get free breakfast and lunch. We have about thirty percent of our student body for whom English is a Second language. About fifteen percent of those students are newcomers, who speak little to no English.

Children who participate in team sports learn how to be good teammates.

They develop a sense of responsibility to the group and understand that their actions influence others. This is an important lesson that carries over into many facets of life. When people can work together towards a common goal, the results are impressive. Teamwork also allows children to build relationships. Working together with others allows them to form strong bonds and friendships that can last a lifetime.

The equipment purchased through this Donor's Choose grant, the barriers and pop-up goals, will be used to help create an environment that facilitates sportsmanship though team sports. Sportsmanship is about being a good role model both on and off the field. It is a vital life skill that teaches kids how to act with grace and respect towards others, whether they are winning or losing.
