This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

When I became a physical education teacher my main goal was to encourage my students to engage and willing participate in physical activity. In order to make this goal achievable we need the proper equipment. Schools primarily put their funding into technology and books, which of course is extremely important, but the physical education component is not a focus because of lack of funds. Providing our pre-K through 5th grade students with age-appropriate equipment, such as basketballs and plastic hoops should be made possible and with your help it can be! After taking a short survey with my students it was evident there is not physical activity taking place, most students spend their time watching television or on an iPad, guardians are unable to take them to the park due to weather or unsafe conditions in the community. The time spent in physical education class is extremely important for them! Did you know...exercise stimulates the production of endorphins, neurotransmitters in the brain that help improve mood and reduce feelings of stress, anxiety, and depression. Please help my students reach their full potential by assisting in funding this project!
