My Students

I teach middle school P.E. and coach various sports teams. My school fields very competitive teams, but sometimes their equipment is lacking. They are great kids, and if their equipment and uniforms were better matched with their efforts and attitudes, I feel this would lead to a better sense of pride in our school community.

My Project

Physical education during the COVID-19 pandemic is especially difficult. Students need the physical activity at this time, because many are stuck at a computer all day. However, due to social distancing guidelines and the inability for students to share equipment, gym teachers need to get creative. Unfortunately we also need more equipment to make class engaging and exciting for students. If students have their own equipment, we will be able to follow all guidelines and make PE class one that they look forward to participating in, which is the way it should be.
