Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach students from pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. Some do not understand English, some have behavioral issues and some are special needs students. Imagine living in the inner city and their only fitness or sports education is once or twice a week in P.E. class.

Imagine the potential of these future fitness professionals or athletes if they had the resources available to them.

I can, and this is why I want them to have the best physical education experience available! I want my students to learn sport skills, as well as life long fitness and cooperation skills. I want these kids to leave for middle school with the foundation they need to be successful in fitness and skills.

My Project

I share my PE equipment with recess and I do not have a lot of basketballs for my students to use. They will take turns, however, with only twenty minutes of recess. I would like as many students as possible to be moving and having fun as well.

None of my students have ever used circus equipment before.

Spinning plates would be perfect for my students to learn eye-hand coordination, as well as balance.

I have introduced my students to kitting objects with their body parts and long implements. Some do struggle with this skill. If they had a different type of object that was larger and slower, they will have better success.
