My Students

My students hail from the five boroughs in the city of New York. Our community serves students in the Special Education sector. My students are empowered to become competent and contributing citizens in an integrated, changing and diverse society. This means that students with significant disabilities are provided with a least restrictive environment in general education settings with special education supports.

I try to encourage this in art class to help them in their social, emotional and academic skills.

I encourage them to think freely and express themselves creatively while giving them the tools they need that guide them to create their masterpieces. Once they realize that they recreate art in their own terms, they are more willing and excited to create more dive into learning and creating more art!

My Project

A providing a classroom Ipad would enable student engagement by supporting literacy through art. My students are very bright and creative and I want to be able to supply them with all the materials that will enable them to be free in their creativity without any objections. The water holders will help students during their painting projects. The laminator will enable me to preserve their work so they can keep them for years to come. These materials will aid in my students exploring their creative size and taking a chance on something they thought they couldn't do. Being ready and fully prepared with their portfolios and other materials will make have them ready to work towards achieving magnificent art pieces.
