Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My goal is to introduce 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders at our Elementary to stringed instruments like the ukulele, fostering their confidence and musical skills as a foundation for more complex instruments such as the guitar. By focusing on the ukulele, students can develop finger strength and basic musical techniques that will serve them well in their future musical endeavors.

Many of the students at our school are Title I, with a significant number coming from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

This financial barrier often prevents them from accessing musical instruments and formal lessons, limiting their opportunities to explore their musical interests. By providing ukuleles, we can ensure that every student has the chance to engage with music, regardless of their economic situation.

The students at our school are particularly special, as they have opted for the music track over other fine arts, demonstrating their passion for music and eagerness to learn. By nurturing this enthusiasm and providing them with the tools to succeed, we can empower these young musicians to build their skills and confidence, opening the door to a lifetime of musical exploration and creativity.
