I need financial support to attend Pathfinders 2020 during July; this is a chance to increase the digital skills that will help students be creators, not just consumers, of technology.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Middle school students are at an important crossroad where they must now make independent choices. A key part of success is risk taking. My students are living in a digitally connected world, I would like my classroom to reflect that.
My students are curious and highly receptive to new ideas and experiences.
Over 30% of my students comes from low-income homes and participate in fee assistance. The classroom offers a chance to expand their view of where they can go and what they can do. The transition from elementary to middle school emphasizes choice, opportunity accountability and growth.
My Project
Pathfinders2020 allows participants to increase their computer science skill set. The session I have chosen, Mouse Video Creator, allows students to use an existing program in a new way. Mouse Video Creator takes advantage of the Scratch platform and allows students to add and edit video to their programming.
Scaffolding a new skill with existing content is a great way to build confidence and competence.
I look forward to learning best practices I can share with students.
Our district is working on a K-12 Computer Science Pathway, and defining a broader set of tools is critical for teachers. Pathfinders2020 supports the growth of educators and provides the tools to teacher these concepts to students.
