My students need origami paper because they are hosting a Cranes for Cancer drive to make at least 1000 origami cranes, a symbol of good luck and health.

My Students
Most of my students are refugees from Iraq and Syria. Almost all come from lower income families. All the students at my school get free breakfast and lunch. Two thirds of my students are English Language Learners, and they are working hard and picking up English very quickly. Each student brings with him/her a unique story that makes our school climate diverse but also cohesive and collaborative. Students and staff work together to make the school a safe, respectful, and productive environment.
My Project
My students do Genius Hour projects each year. This is where they get to spend part of their day learning about whatever they want and turning that into some kind of project. One student loves origami and knows a lot about the myth in which giving a sick person 1000 origami cranes can bring good luck and health. She learned about an organization called Cranes for Caner that collects origami cranes to give to those with cancer in hopes that it will bring good luck and health to the people. She is starting a campaign to have the students at our school make origami cranes that will be delivered to Cranes for Cancer. The donation I am requesting is to make this passion project come to life at our school by providing the students with quality origami paper.
