As a middle school teacher in a tiny rural town, many of our students are at risk and come from low-income families, so they don't get the opportunities that students in larger districts do. That is why Passion for Art is a project near and dear to my heart.
Art is about expressing oneself in a creative way.
But there are several benefits to children having art in school. It helps learners to develop creative problem-solving skills and understand difficult concepts visually. It encourages engagement and creativity and helps one think outside the box. Art motivates children to come to school and reduces their stress levels. It improves social-emotional and interpersonal skills and enriches their experiences. It helps them handle constructive criticism and bolster their academic achievement. Art also improves their focus and attention span.
The Passion for Art project is geared towards creating an inclusive and creative space for middle school students. Students will be learning basic principles of art such as line, texture, shading, and color. About perspective, symmetry, and space. Students will be trying their hand at sketching, pencil drawing, watercolor, painting with acrylics, and paper mâché.
