Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Technology is just a tool. In terms of getting the kids working together and motivating them, the teacher is most important." ~Bill Gates. I completely agree with Gates, a teacher is the key component to students' learning, especially when it comes to technological creativity and innovation.

I've been teaching elementary school children for 18 years.

The past 9 years, I've been fortunate to have joined the amazing team of educators at my school which is located in the Southern California area. It was at my current school where I became passionate about teaching rigorously, committed myself to professional growth and reflection, and became a National Board Certified Teacher. My school is an Apple Distinguished School, every student beginning at Kindergarten through grade 5, has an Apple device assigned for them for in-school use only. Having technology access at school is a wonderful tool to have; it allows me to integrate technology to our Common Core curriculum, and provide my students with the necessary skills to be college or career ready.

My Project

Having a MacBook Air will equip me with the latest technology needed to help support the new learning that I will gain during the iBooks Author professional development (PD) offered by Apple. The technological skills that I learn at the PD will allow me to teach, model, and guide my students on how to use iBooks Author, Pages, and Keynotes so that they can create beautiful, interactive books on any subject. My students will also learn how to add video, audio, other accessible features, and learn to publish and share texts such as, narrative, informative, and persuasive texts using iBooks Author, Pages, and Keynotes.

Having the latest MacBook Air will improve my technology integrated instruction tremendously.

My current laptop is outdated and in need of repair. As an educator of 21st century students, it is my obligation to equip them with the latest technological tools and skills necessary to enter this fast changing world that they live in. I'm confident that your kind donations to this project will help my students achieve innovative and creative forms to demonstrate new learning.
