My Students

I currently have 24 six- and seven-year-old students in my classroom. I am teaching first graders in a Title I school, located in a high poverty and high crime area of Pennsylvania.

All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch.

Many of my students come from homes where English is not spoken. I have three special education students and two ESL (English as a Second Language) students in my classroom. Several of the students in my classroom have an in-class social worker.

My Project

We currently use two online reading programs in our classroom. I would like to involve the parents more in their children's education.

For this project, I am hoping to get 3 Nooks that the children can borrow from our class in order to read online stories at home with their families.

We currently use Reading A-Z and Epic in our classroom. I would like the students to read stories with their families. This will not only help the children improve their reading levels, but it will also help the family bond over story time.

Please help my students and their families get Nooks with chargers and cases. Thanks so much for considering this project.
