Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is located in a part of the neighborhood that has high poverty and where many of my students and their families reside. The COVID pandemic and the resulting effects have continued to negatively impact our student's community.

With the presence of an easel, I am able to better engage my students to interact with the book, project, and/or lesson at hand.

My class is a 4th grade Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) classroom. In our class students with disabilities who receive Integrated Co-Teaching services are grouped with age-appropriate peers in a general education classroom. As an ICT classroom, small group instruction is incredibly important in order for all students to succeed.

My Project

The classroom easel is easily one of the most important and highly used tools in a primary classroom. It can be used every day for multiple purposes across all subject areas! As an ICT class, parallel teaching is incredibly important in order to reach all students. The presence of an easel will help build on students misconceptions on the spot. It will encourage more participation during small group instruction. At this current time, there is no area/space to write at the back of the class.

The easel will allow me to keep my students in close proximity and engaged in the lesson that I'm presenting.

When students return to their seats, this mobile easel will still be accessible for them to see and reference.
