My Students

My students are ready and eager to learn. We are a Title I school with 100% of the students receiving free or reduced-price lunch. Our students come from a rural community with parents who want them to succeed and the best for them in life. My students are in first grade.

We enjoy learning in a nontraditional environment and using technology to explore the world around us.

My students are excited and love the opportunity to explore the world around them. They have been learning to work collaboratively and how to find solutions to real-world problems.

My Project

I would love to save paper wherever I can. There are so many papers floating around my classroom right now and I believe some would be better as a digital resource. By having a digital scanner, I can take some of the papers and scan them in to the computer.

Once they are scanned, the paper can be recycled and the resource can be used again next year.

My students love to complete assignments on Chrome devices through Google Classroom. The ability to quickly scan an assignment and send it to students will help us a lot.

This scanner will allow me to take the worksheets that our reading curriculum requires and scan them into the computer. I can then send them to students to complete digitally. For example, when we are learning about digraphs, I have a worksheet that requires students to choose the correct digraph to finish a word and then write a sentence. By scanning this worksheet, I will be able to allow students to type directly on the worksheet. They will increase their technological skills as well as their reading skills.

My goal in having a less paper classroom is to help students to understand how to use the technology. As they get older, they will not have to spend so much of their effort on learning how to use the program and the learning objective as well.
