Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Basic supplies shouldn't be so hard to come by. I teach all subjects to first-graders in a high-need community in New York.

Unfortunately, we are lacking one of the most basic supplies--paper! Every time my students write a story, they need to use at least three copies of our writing workshop paper. For 23 students, that's about 70 pieces of paper, and they should be writing at least one story a week. They also need copies of worksheets for every other subject, too.

In short, we need paper. And lots of it. Having paper means my students will have more opportunities for writing, which is how they get better at it. They will also have access to more parts of every other type of lesson by having copies of various worksheets. I will also be able to send more educational letters home to foster more parental and community involvement.

Your help will ensure that my students have access to fundamental supplies. You will make it possible for my students to have complete lessons. And best of all, they will be able to write as much as they want, instead of as much as they are given.
