My Project

My lovey little learners are in an important year of their education....first grade! They are in the process of developing not only their academic skills, but also the fine motor skill of pencil grip and penmanship through writing. First graders need a lot of practice with pen to paper work to increase the strength in their hands and learn to write clearly and neatly. The enthusiasm of these little students is contagious as they watch their teacher instruct not only how to form letters on paper, but also how to record and expand their knowledge.

With supply shortages affecting the whole country, my first graders are feeling the impact with the lack of printing sources in our school.

All of the copy machines are out of toner, and there is no shipment in sight. It has become difficult to print the paper materials needed for students to participate in written work in all subject areas.

By having a printer for my classroom, I will be able to print the resources needed in all subject areas so my students can access the curriculum. Being able to print a modified or advanced math worksheet within seconds will help differentiate materials to support the needs of all students. The printer also comes with 6 months of free ink that is replaced when the printer is need of replacement.

Being mindful of paper usage, a small laminating machine is also being requested in this project to help support small group instruction. Learning centers are an important part of first grade! Students need individualized instruction to meet their needs, and centers help accommodate all students. The laminating machine will allow me to create centers for both Math and ELA that can be used for years to come.
