Our class is full of eager little learners from various backgrounds. Our school is Title I and offers completely free breakfast and lunch for all students. There are a large number of students in our school who rely on the backpack program for food. There is a high mobility rate in our area due to migrant work and homelessness. Our community is in a rural part of the county, which limits our families' access to resources.
Our students are a creative bunch who want to experiment, create, and learn as much as they can.
They love challenges and exceeding expectations. They set goals for themselves in all areas of learning. Growth mindset is a big part of our class academically and socially.
My Project
We need new erasers to use on our whiteboards. These are used daily in small group and whole group for reading and math. The colored paper will be used for writing activities as well as to make center games. Pencil boxes will give each student a space to keep their pencils and erasers while moving around the room to work.
Writing is an important skill but not a favorite activity, help me motivate them with choice.
Primary journals will give my students a designated writing & illustrating space. Handwriting paper will give them guides to practice on while they transition to wide rule paper. The wider lines will help them write neater and make it easier to read. New pencils are needed throughout the year.
More than half of students from low‑income households
