My Students

My students live in a high poverty area and dedicate little to no money on classroom resources such as writing utilities or paper. Their basic needs are barely met at home, so buying material for classwork isn't exactly what's on their minds.

Despite these hardships, every student comes into class enthused to learn mathematics.

I would like to remove this extra burden from them by supplying them with, not only the proper materials, but some of the better materials that exist so that they can reach their full potential.

My Project

With the new common core curriculum, most textbooks do not cover required topics or, if they do, do not do so with enough rigor. Because of this, students need supplemental material which I would provide for them on the requested paper. Only with this extra information would they meet the requirements for the Common Core Regents examination.

Students should always have the required resources and materials to help them learn and/or succeed at life-defining high stakes test.

With the requested paper, students wouldn't be burdened by the shortcomings of textbooks. Additionally, students will have an ever growing textbook of their own work in their binders.
