Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a low economic area of New York City. We are located in Washington Heights in the upper Manhattan region. Most of the students that come to our school come well below their grade level with regards to reading. These students need opportunities to familiarize themselves with books that they would never have a chance to read on their own time. My students do not have the same advantages that students have in more wealthy neighborhoods. These students have the drive they just need the resources!

My Project

My students need to be able to look at and read the articles themselves during class. Our school ran out of paper and no longer supplies us with paper. I am unable to make copies for ALL of my students as I have around 150 students in total. The paper will help the students gain access to reading materials! The school has told us it will not provide us with any more paper and paper has become very expensive. I can't afford to go out and buy enough paper to make all the copies that all of my students need. It would be great to give them the same opportunities well funded rich schools get around the city.
