My Students

I teach 6th grade Social Studies in a NYC Middle School. Students come in each day and learn about the ancient civilizations that helped to influence our world. Students view videos, visit stations, and complete various tasks in order to learn about the curriculum. They then lead in a whole class discussion/debate.

They are 6th graders who love to learn.

The city unfortunately does not provide the materials that are always necessary for that to happen. Though the parents are more than generous, it is not always feasible for them to donate more than they already do.

My Project

They will use the materials within the classroom. The paper provides the students with the materials that they need, whether it be to provide them with the materials at a station/task they they need to accomplish or a reading that will help them learn about the topic. Students will also use the paper while they are creating projects within the classroom. They have access to computer carts/printers but are not given the paper that would be necessary to print.

The paper will allow the students to have the materials that are necessary for them to learn.

Students who are unable to access the materials at home will have the ability to print them in class as well.
