My Project
Educating students about fragile ecosystems such as the Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument and the impacts of human activities such as marine debris, climate change, and the introduction of invasive species can empower them to take action as stewards of the Earth.
To bring this educational vision to life, I propose funding a culminating project: a mural initiative led by professional nature artist and conservationist, Patrick Ching.
Mr. Ching, a dedicated advocate for protecting the Monument, boasts 26 online art lessons and hosts "Patrick Ching's Painting in Paradise" on our local television station, Spectrum OC16. He will conduct virtual lessons guiding students in creating a mural showcasing the diverse flora and fauna of the Monument. I am seeking to compensate Mr. Ching for leading three 45-minute sessions, with all necessary art supplies provided.
The finished mural will be prominently displayed at our Project-Based Learning Fair, accompanied by narratives and additional artwork. This display will serve as a tangible symbol of our commitment to environmental conservation, inspiring both students and visitors alike.
