Help me give my students alternative seating in our room, laminating sheets to allow me to laminate their awards and achievements, and a cell phone locker to help them to not be distracted by their phone!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As an 8th grade teacher, the cell phone locker will assist me in keeping my kids focused during class. While I believe technology is a tool, the cell phones can be incredibly distracting in an educational environment. Students in their age group struggle to not only get distracted by technology but to also rely on it to the point that it compromises their education. The locker will help me to keep their phones locked in a safe space where they can easily access it should they need it but also keep it away during class time.
My kids love alternative seating, I have several students that I have noticed have better work habits when they have flexible and less restrictive seating assignments in my class.
The cushions just add a bit of comfort for those that benefit from alternative seating.
The laminating sheets offer two main benefits. I often create a lot of my own classroom decor and laminate it so it lasts longer. I also use laminating sheets for the monthly and quarterly awards that my students receive so they can save their achievements!
