This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kiddos are exceptional students who are curious about the world around them. My students love to change up the pace during the day and they enjoy getting really creative with new things. Many of my students face challenges in their personal lives, but still come to school daily ready to learn and do their very best.

Being 5 years old and starting school comes with many challenges, especially during this uncertain time.

I want to be able to prepare my students for school whether we are in person or virtual. For a kindergartener this is already a very scary time and on top of everything else going on in the world right now, it is so important I can provide my students with the resources and tools they will need to thrive as new learners.

I have been a teacher for 5 years now and have loved every second of it. Unfortunately, many of the things I have been using have been gifted hand me downs from when I first started and are starting to get torn or broken from the years of use. I am hoping to replace these items for my students this year!

My Project

Throughout the last year, teachers have been hit hard in how effective we can be when teaching our students. I want to provide some materials for me and my students that will help get us more organized, prepared, and excited throughout this pandemic.

The year has created many hurdles and a lot of sadness for me and my students.

We have switched back and forth between hybrid and virtual learning. I really want a way to provide my students with fun materials that they can use when learning their letters and numbers. Many of my students are falling behind right now, which means they need more engaging ways to learn the material. The magnet letter board and shut the box game will ensure they are invested in learning letters and numbers in a way they haven't before. My students have also been very overwhelmed with all the changes. Having fun tools like a doorbell, cactus pens, dice and buzzers will motivate them to focus more on their education in an exciting way!

I have also felt the stress of this school year. Having some organizational tools will help me feel more in control of things happening inside the classroom. There are so many little things I can't afford to buy with my own money right now, that will make a great impact on my students; things like: tacks to hang items, a computer stand for more desk space, pens and a gradebook for organized grading and a presentation clicker so I can move more freely around the room.

Our lives have all been turned upside down and this project will help fund ways to make this teacher feel more organized and at peace with the things that are outside of my control. Thank you for supporting our little llamas!
