My Students

We have an amazingly diverse student body at our middle school. Our students love to come to school every day and for many of them, look back onto their middle school years as their favorite academic school years. Some common characteristics among our students include an appreciation for cultural diversity, an understanding of shared leadership, tech savviness, creative problem solving and global thinking. Our students work hard every day and give up their spare time to give back to their local and global community through organizations like Project Linus, Operation Gratitude, and Students Rebuild. Our students also demonstrate school pride through their involvement with extra curricular activities including sports teams and after school clubs like Magazine Club, Math Club and Engineering Club.

My students work very hard at school every day and look forward to their creative release once they step into the "Expressions" classroom.

My students attend "Expressions" every day and connect with their inner artist through the creative process! I hope to provide a well structured and organized classroom in order to continue to challenge and engage their creative spirit!

My Project

I want my students to have access to a variety of art materials and mediums to explore and experiment with to communicate their idea. Some mediums I want to have in stock include acrylic paint, spray paints, charcoal pencils, screen/block printing inks, pastels, sharpies- in a variety of colors. Materials that are necessary to utilize these materials freely include brushes, paper, erasers, sharpeners, and Xacto knives. Having a variety of materials can allow my students to find their VOICE through their creative process!

When students communicate meaning through their artwork they have the ability to connect others to their message.

I want students to choose freely to communicate meaning from mediums and processes like spray painting, screen or block printing, subtractive charcoal drawing, painting with acrylic or mixing media and stencil work. I believe that having access to materials to explore and to create freely will benefit my students in this ever changing world and indeterminable future. I believe that creative experiences invites students to take risks, promotes advocacy and develops innovative minds.
