My Project

My school is in a Rural village of Akiak, located in Western Alaska. My students are all considered Alaska Native and are apart of the Yupik people. They come from a long line of resilient, hardworking, community oriented people. A large part of the school culture here is sports. Sports and community events run our school.

The materials that will be provided by this Donors Choose will help create posters that not only enhance school spirit, but that will also foster team work, collaboration, and communication.

My students work together to create these posters, combining their ideas, and creating beautiful posters that can be enjoyed year round. Posters are created not only for our school , but my students will also create posters to welcome other schools and students into our school. The paint will be not only used by my class but all the teachers around my school.

The goal of my project is to supply my students and athletes with ample materials to be able to create posters for many years to come.
