Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a kindergarten teacher. I currently have 22 students in my class. I work at a school that is located in an urban area with a high poverty level. As a teacher, I think its important to reach out to the families and invite them into our school, to take part in their child's learning.

How do we learn to to draw and paint? In our district, we are teaching our kindergarten students to draw, paint and illustrate their stories. One of the best ways to teach children how to illustrate is to allow them to freely express themselves at the art center so that they can apply what they do to their stories.

Our class is in need of an art easel so that students can take risks in their illustrations. The learning is enhanced through modeling and the student's interaction. The students also come up to the easel to write pieces to go with their paintings or illustrations.The easel makes it easy to clean mistakes and students don't feel as bad about making mistakes.

Our class hopes that donors will make a difference by ensuring that our class will get an easel, so we can make learning happen through modeling and interaction! We can't wait to go on painting adventures!!! Thank you!!!
