Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Third graders are curious by nature and enjoy engaging in hands on activities that help them learn. They are in a transitional year in their education. They are not considered lower grade students or upper grade students so they are trying to figure out where they fit in. With love and support from myself and each other, they will find where they belong.
My students are smart, inquisitive, creative and have a zest for learning.
They come to school every day eager to learn something new.
My class has the privilege to main stream our special education students for social studies and science (including STEM bins).
My students enjoy being scientist and creating new and exciting inventions or just building upon what they already have. I want to continue to foster their unique and inquisitive nature by allowing them to collaborate and learn new coding skills.
I have a few STEM bins for my students to use. This is by far their favorite activity. Whenever they have free time, the STEM bins are the first place they want to go and explore. I am amazed everyday at how creative and innovative they are when they have the freedom to create.
My Project
Using ozobots will help my students become 21st century learners. They will foster critical thinking skills while students try their hand at coding to make the ozobot move. The ozobots will also encourage the students to communicate and collaborate to create new worlds using coding.
All students are curious and creative at this age and using robots will continue to foster their curiosity.
These little robots will allow my students to feel successful and encourage them to focus on their ability to become scientist and coders. I cannot wait to see how they use their 21st century skills to code an ozobot. With this addition to our STEM bins the future is in the palm of their hands.
