My Students

My students should be given the opportunity to take advantage of all that technology has to offer. I have 120 students who are transitioning to 21st-century classrooms. I would love to give them every opportunity to succeed in the classroom and the real world.

I am teaching 6th through 8th graders in an Affiliated Charter Title I school which is a Math, Science, Technology Magnet located in California.

I have classes that range from the highly gifted to ESL students. They are highly motivated and desire the latest technology. The way they learn best is whenever we incorporate any form of technology. They are independent learners but love working on group projects.

My students learn best by collaborating and researching to find the information themselves. Now, with the Common Core National Standards, we have an even a greater need for more technology in the classroom to better prepare them for not only the new assessments but a new way of learning the standards.

We are a "learning by doing" charter. In order to have our students participate in real-life experiences, the demand for technology increases. Our students are eager to explore the world with the latest technology.

My Project

I am requesting a new document camera, and Bluetooth speakers to help us during distant learning. By adding these additional resources it will go above and beyond what any textbooks could provide them. In addition to the internet, my students will be using a program called Accelerated Reader, which is an Internet based reading program promoting reading comprehension along with encouraging the students to want to read for enjoyment. They will also utilize a program called Vantage. This is a writing program that allows students to submit essays online and instantly get scores and feedback to encourage revising and editing. The students will have access to unlimited apps that will reinforce the state standards and allow independent based research of their interests.

Bringing technology into the classroom will open the world at my students' fingertips.

It will motivate and encourage them to produce work that is above and beyond the assignments. The most important goals I have for my students are that they become 21st century learners and career ready. Anytime the students use any form of technology to broaden their knowledge, it is an amazing learning experience.
