My Project

The kindergarten yard my students play on is lacking engaging opportunities for play. When students don't have engaging toys to play with or spaces to play on, that is when disagreements and injuries can begin to occur. My aides and I saw this happening a lot on our yard last year, as we only have a small square play structure with stairs and a slide that is not large enough for a class of 25-27 students to play on. We have a lot of open space around the structure where we would love to add more toys to provide students with the opportunity for dramatic play.

By giving students the opportunity to engage in dramatic play through the use of the playhouse, garden/market, and outdoor BBQ, they will expand their imaginations, explore communication and social skills, and build friendships.

My hope is that these materials will provide for a smoother recess and lunch playtime this upcoming school year, give my students richer play opportunities, and enhance their social skills.
