My Students

The children of our school are all very special, each in their own individual ways. Many of our students are ELL and for some of them, this will be their first experience with school. They are from an inner-city neighborhood, with many things going on in their little lives. They have many outside events that distract them throughout the day. They are a very diverse group of children with many different needs.

Most of our students are not prepared for school with the necessary supplies that are needed to be successful.

My Project

As we embark on a new and uncertain school year, I wish to provide my students with fresh and new materials that will best provide a diverse, engaging, fun environment.

These games, social emotional arts and crafts, as well as plenty of seating options and creative spaces are needed to provide an enriching, comfortable, and enjoyable learning setting.

The carpet will be placed in the "Book Nook" and used as a gathering place where kids can read by themselves or with a friend. The paper, scissors, and other supplies will serve well with fine motor skills and creativity. The organizational baskets will be placed on the shelves in the "Book Nook" as well to store the books that the children will enjoy reading throughout the year. The different types of seating will be used throughout the room in order for my students to choose a place to work that is comfortable for them.
