My Project

As we jump into a new school there are a lot of changes happening in the school and at home for my students. With all the uncertainty of what can happen the only thing I can control is what happens in the classroom. My classroom is a safe haven for my students, a place where I want the kids to feel comfortable to make choices, to make mistakes, and to make strides.

Every child can learn and succeed, with the right space and motivation.

Every student in the class has a different set of needs and issues but works hard to create a space that opportunities for all kids to learn. Whether they need fidgets, weighted stuffed animals, scaffolds, individualized learning plans, or just their own space I want to provide that for them. The tools that we ask for in this project will help us set up each student in the classroom for a year of learning and fun! Each student will have a drawing pad, play-doh, and supplies in a zipper pouch to use for the school year. We have STEM games and materials for students to work on STEM projects together and learn in importance of working together. No one student gets left out when it comes to supplies for the classroom.

The materials I am requesting will directly help me create this type of atmosphere for my students. We would use the benches, bean bags, and yoga balls as flexible seating for the children. Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work for them. They can choose the type of workspace that will help them focus and complete tasks. In addition to flexible seating a mailbox system will help the students become independent and organized with all their belongings.
