My Project

As the media specialist, I have the opportunity to work with over 700 kids. I love talking to kids about books they have read. I love watching kids get excited about a book finally being on the bookshelf. I love seeing the pride the students have when they meet their reading goals for the quarter. And the most exciting part is celebrating with them when they meet their quarterly reading goals.

With these incentives, I can plan an Out of This World Party that will encourage students to meet their school-wide reading goals.

My goal as a media specialist, is to instill in my students a love for reading and a love for books. Providing quarterly incentives for students meeting their school-wide reading goals is a great way to promote reading in our school. Students who meet their quarterly goals must put in a lot of hard work and take a lot of Accelerated Reader quizzes. Celebrating their accomplishments is a great motivation for them to continue reading and continue taking quizzes outside of their regular classwork and homework.

My goal is to provide students will fun games, activities, and prizes so they are motivated to read throughout the year—especially toward the end of the year when testing and end of year activities begin to take priority.
