Our 3rd grade classes are made up of a unique blend of students including gifted and talented, dyslexic, special needs, and ESL students. These students come to school every day with not only academic needs but emotional needs also. Many of our students are low-income and on free and reduced lunch. The school I teach at is in a high poverty area. As teachers, we strive to meet their every need the best we can.
My students come to school eager to learn about things that they can apply to their daily lives.
The things they learn in math can be used and seen every day all around us!
My Project
Having access to the thousands of teacher created resources will allow me to purchase and use more game like and interactive materials to increase excitement and desire for my students to learn. This is the first year my 3rd graders will take the STAAR test and I want them to be excited and eager to learn so that they are more than ready to ace that test! These materials will be used during class time and our intervention time to fill academic gaps and increase engagement in my classroom. I plan to use the materials purchased daily in my classroom in many different ways like games, gallery walks around the room, small group instruction, and whole group instruction.
