My Students

My kindergarteners are a diverse group of Bronx students. They all share a strong desire to learn. Many of them come from low income families who struggle to make ends meet, even so the kids are so enthusiastic! They know when they walk through the doors of our school that they are cared for. Many come in hungry, tired, and sometimes sad and upset. It is not an easy task developing the language and skills of such a diverse group. Some are English language learners, while others have had limited experiences—which limits their language and ability to make connections to topics covered in school. They often get frustrated and upset when they struggle to complete tasks.

With the support of a passionate teacher and caring peers, they know that giving up is never an option in our kindergarten classroom!

My Project

With a large screen and wiring to make it work, we will all enjoy learning more. The virtual world can be challenging and at times it’s difficult to see all students at once. With the ability to see all students, the teacher can be sure that all students are engaged in all activities. By using a seperate monitor just to interact with students, this will allow the teacher better control over what she sees and how she teaches. This will make our virtual leaning a better experience for the kids and their teacher too!
