Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are serious computer scientists in the making! My Mobile Apps students are highly motivated and passionate about technology. In our class, we learn by doing and experimenting with code. Programming can be frustrating, however, we fine-tune our skills with every "bug" in our program. We are learning useful skills to make us well-rounded technologists.

We are on our way to getting certified as Microsoft Office Specialists; 75% of those who took all three tests in our last cohort reached this goal.

We are getting job-ready and preparing to be leaders that will make tomorrow a better place to live.

My Project

Our students are thirsty for computer science books to use as reference materials and for test prep for their technical certifications. These books are not available in our library. These books can be used for our AP Computer Science Principles who need to create a program using code as much needed reference material, since what they often find on the internet is often incomplete or inaccurate. I would like to provide my students one resource--a computer science library to go to as a reliable resource that they can check out as they look into projects and get deeper into programming. I will also benefit as a teacher, relying on this as reference material when I need to re-teach concepts or provide well written and developed coding examples.

Our school library lacks such material that is geared to our audience -- technologists and budding programmers.
