My Students

As a Health/Phys Ed teacher, I see how poverty affects my students. I see how they cannot come in properly dressed because of the low-income household that they live in. I see open toed sneakers and tank tops in 30-degree weather. This is what our entire school population consists of. These students would never ask for help, however, they deserve to be nurtured and feel comfortable while playing in when they feel thirsty. As our school basketball coach, alongside one of my colleagues, it would be so beneficial for our team to be prepared This will raise their self-esteem and their skills in basketball as a whole. For many, this is their first experience in playing organized ball. They are excited about the opportunity! These are also my students, who during their Physical Education class, are always willing to participate. They emulate professional basketball players and want to have what they have or at least play the part... Any donation is always helpful... Thanks so much in advance...

My Project

Our basketball team is just starting out! We need the proper equipment to get started. These 5th graders were asked if they wanted to try something new. Our team does not have the skills yet to be successful at this time, but our goal is to make competitive players, exhibit sportsmanship on and off the court and feel good about themselves.

I would love to have the students wear the proper footwear as well.

Some are wearing their school shoes to play in. Others are wearing running sneakers which is not appropriate for a game. As a coach, you always want your players to be prepared when learning new skills. They are very excited to learn and play against their peers. This is a new program that is trying to encourage physical activity with a love for sports. I appreciate your support and so would these eager players. Game on!
