My students need diverse seating choices to help in small group work. Having these options will enable our students in choosing what works best for them as they work in small group or independently.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are a unique group of 6-7year olds. They are culturally diverse and most have been in the dual language program with the same cohort group since Kindergarten. Our students range from students with different disabilities to students that are at grade level and above grade level. This range of learners makes our classroom a safe place where students are encouraged to learn in different ways, using diverse tools and accommodations are available to all. Our students each bring unique prior knowledge and experiences that we value and integrate into our class discussions. This is a truly magical place where everyone feels safe, accepted and successful. Our class model is "Hard Work Pays Off", and that is what we do each day!
My Project
The flexible seating options would help our students try different seating options to help them focus and stay on task longer. Our students have movement breaks daily and have the option of taking short breaks, yet with only one type of seating available, it is difficult to offer those choices and have them complete expected tasks. Students will get a choice and be encouraged to try different options during different times of the schoolday.
We believe that these materials will help students have seating options and help minimize the breaks needed and maximize focused work time.
I am confident that these seating options will help our students focus and stay on task much longer!
