Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class is composed of 55 fifth graders in a general education class, with students with IEP and ELL learners and special education students such as autism.

A typical day in my classroom looks active.

My students are engaged in learning activities that get them moving, talking to their peers, and asking great questions. You will not see a lot of worksheets in my classroom. My students are learning through hands-on experiences.

I teach in a Title I school.

My fifth-grade students come from very diverse families. I am excited to share that my school is a genuinely diverse community. Not only do students come from varying ethnic backgrounds and places, but the life experiences that they’ve had are incredibly unique. My scholars are creative, thoughtful, and full of excitement!

My students are 9 and 10-year children that love coming to school. When school was closed in the spring of 2020 due to the pandemic not only were the kids wanting to come back but we missed seeing their smiling faces every day.

My Project

I am planning lots of activities and projects for my students to create slide shows, presentations, and doing lots of research on the questions that they undoubtedly come up with during the course of the year. I want them to not only have access to their work in a digital sense but also a hard copy. It makes things so much more real to them to actually be able to touch and hold something.

This new printer and ink cartridges would be the key to unlocking their potential in creativeness in science and math.

that is capable of printing the day to day stories and assignments that they create on their iPads and school computers. My school is in a desperate shortage of printers on campus and many teachers are having to buy their own printers and ink.

When I ask my students to write, I want them to feel like they will have that finished product to take home and share with their families.

That is such a crucial and motivating element for my students. They love seeing that finished product coming out of the printer. I believe this extra toner will help ensure that my students are able to freely write as much as they can this school year without worrying about running low on ink.
