Our Room: A Clean Happy Place

My Students

My students are elementary rockstars who have visual impairments as well as learning disabilities. Three of my girls come from homes where languages other than English are spoken. All of my students come from homes that face financial hardship. All of this means how important it is that my classroom is a place rich with language-based activities, multi-sensory activities as well as healthy options. In my class, I strive to nurture my students' hearts, minds and bodies. I want it to be their happy place.

My Project

Even though my students are in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade, they are learning mainly daily life skills, including self-help skills. My students will learn about hygiene and learn in a clean happy place. She need soft tissues to learn how to blow their nose and wipes and hand sanitizer to learn about keeping their hands clean. Healthy snacks to learn about nurturing their bodies and we need cups and trays to serve those snacks. We need cleaning wipes to keep their hands and desks clean. We use envelopes to send letters home as well as report cards and IEPs.
