Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a diverse bunch of students that are excited about learning. During our morning meeting, I hear kids saying "I am happy because I am at school." They are always willing to participate in class. I love to see all their hands go up! They love to read. Every chance they get, students pull out a book. Every time I get to add a new book to our classroom library, they all want to be the first to read it! They love to go on our digital reading platforms, which we will use a lot this year!

My Project

My students received beginner decodables at the beginning of the year from a Donors Choose project. These books allowed them to become stronger readers. Now some students are ready for more complex books. These reader sets will help them continue to grow as readers. They have enjoyable and more complex plots with simple text. We will use these books during our reading comprehension time and for free reading. Sometimes students like to take a book home for fun! I can't wait to see their excitement when we get some new books!
