My Students

My students are inquisitive individuals who look for new ways to challenge themselves. As students at a full time gifted school, they need constant simulation and thrive on lessons where application and exploration are evident. We lack materials to allow us such engagement in the area of science.

My students have all been identified as children with specific goals and needs to address their giftedness.

They are spirited, young children whom never turn down a good challenge! They love group projects and working together to create products. As a campus specifically designed to accommodate the needs of gifted students, we deliver an accelerated curriculum model and opportunities to apply learned content.

My Project

With the requested materials, I will be able to conduct four different labs with my students that address various science and math concepts we study throughout the year. Instead of being mere observers of knowledge, these labs will emerge my students in the application process. One activity requires the students to build their own roller coasters to demonstrate kinetic and potential energy. I can hear the shrieks of thrill coming from my students already! Not only will the STEM kits provide hands-on exploring, they also lend themselves to the development of problem solving and higher order thinking.

These science kits support STEM education.

This relatively new model of teaching supports the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in the classroom. These areas and fields of profession are paving our futures and simulating our youth. Help me bring critical science and math skills to life and cultivate STEM learners!
