Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

All of our freshman are taking our Career Foundations advisory course to help lay the foundation for their post-secondary pathways. The creation of the "Zen Den" will provide them a safe and calming place to do our journal work and have our future planning conferences. They will also be able to use these chairs when they are stressed and need a quiet place to reset during their lunch periods, before and after school and even during our class.

Our students come from varied backgrounds and many lack a place in their home where they can be alone.

I want to create a space in my classroom where they can sit with their feelings and process all the chaos of being a teen. On a great day or a difficult day, having a place to reflect and reset is essential to mental health and well-being.

These seats will make a huge difference in our classroom environment and it is my hope that I can provide for them the safe space they need.
