This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Hello! I am Sarah Santana, the instrumental music teacher at our school. Unfortunately, our students haven’t had a music program in about four years and they were left yearning for music in their lives. This year, administration and I are dedicated to providing accessible music opportunities to our students, but we need some help to get it kick started.

Our essentials start with a rug where many of our lessons will take place for grades P to 5.

To brighten up our room and provide resources, we need posters which students will easily be able to reference. Some students are excited to be learning to play an instrument this year but for that will need the listed books and instrument-specific materials such as reeds.

I am so passionate about providing these resources for our students because each student is enthusiastic and eager to dive into the rich world of music education. With each material made accessible to them, they will be able to thrive in our music space.

Finally, thank you for taking the time to read about our music program and mission and the Elliott school family is excited to get our music journey going!
