My Project

As a school counselor, I live and breathe social emotional learning (SEL). It is important to help students reach their full potential, not only academically, but also emotionally and socially. One way to achieve this is by creating a positive, motivating, and inspiring environment at our school. This is done by having an uplifting and inviting office; vivid, informative, and eye-catching bulletin boards and posters throughout the school; and even cool swag--clothes and personal items with our school's logo, child’s name, or celebratory messages on them. To accomplish this I am asking for a Cricut to create SEL material and personalized items for students.

By viewing vibrant SEL material schoolwide and receiving celebratory shirts and personalized items, students will be challenged to meet their own potential, encouraged to strive for their goals, and be reminded that hard work pays off!

In addition to promoting SEL concepts and motivating students through the creation of posters bulletin boards, personal items will be created to celebrate various SEL accomplishments. We celebrate student of the month, we celebrate students who have great attendance, we also celebrate students who have few to no behavior infractions. Additionally, we celebrate our own “high school signing day” where students display the mascot or logo of the high school they have been accepted to. That’s a big deal at our school and we’d love to make shirts for each of those students to create an excitement for postsecondary planning throughout our PreK-8 school. Personalized incentives have proven effective at our school. These items will not only make students feel proud of their hard work, but also motivate them to continue striving for success.

Overall, this project aims to create a positive and inspiring SEL environment schoolwide that promotes self-esteem, academic growth, and a sense of community among the students
