My Students

My classroom is full of energetic and enthusiastic Kindergarten and First grade students. They come in each day eager to learn, with a variety of life experiences and background knowledge. Many of my students have a military connection and have lived in a variety of places while other students may never have left the county.

Each student, regardless of their background, comes in ready to learn!

It is my hope that I can provide opportunities for my students that will lead them to become creative thinkers and risk takers.

My Project

My students love to listen to read alouds in the classroom but currently I do not have a listening center in my K/1 Multiage classroom. The materials from project will allow me to create a listening center that would engage my students and help to build their reading fluency.

I have many books on tape but tape players have become a thing of the past.

The converter would allow me to take my vast collection of books on tape and bring them back to life for my students. I can load the stories onto the Kindle Fires and provide my students with a wide variety of genres and narrators. Many books on tape have interesting sound effects, music, and multiple narrators that are especially motivating and fun for young children. Providing cushions to sit on will make our listening center more inviting and comfortable for the students. The use of a splitter for headphones will allow the students to read with a partner on occasion.
