Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every morning, my students are excited to start the day of learning! All my special education students, in grade 2, are ready to work hard to achieve their goals in school.

We are an integrated-collaborative teaching class of motivated and ambitious learners.

My Project

I have been using Pop-Its a lot this year, specifically in my phonics and phonemic awareness lessons. It's amazing how engaged the kids are with a Pop-Its in front of them.

The Pop-Its in this project will be used for phonics, phonemic awareness, and math.

My kids will use the square Pop-Its to pop the sounds in words. This helps them hear every sound and then put a letter to each sound they hear. I will say a sentence, the kids will repeat the sentence, and then pop each word in the sentence. For math, the square Pop-Its can be used to help with addition. The kids can pop the number for each addend and then count the number of pops for the total. There are many more ways these can be used in the classroom, just too many to list!
