This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember what it was like to own your own computer? Back in December, we were fortunate enough to have two new laptops donated to our classroom. Before this donation,we were unable to have the world at our fingertips. Now with a touch of a button, we are able to explore. They need a home.

My school is in a low income neighborhood in Queens.

I have been a classroom teacher for 13 years. Year after year, we receive students fresh from their countries,not speaking a word of English. Our student population is not native to the United States of America. Most of the students are from South America and Asia. They are the most eager, sweetest children who have their eyes wide open when it comes to utilizing technology for our projects. They love to explore the Internet.

My Project

Since our school is in a low income area, these children are not privileged to own their own computers. At most, 5 students that I have own computers. Last month, we were afforded the luxury of having two brand new laptops donated to our classroom. Due to lack of funding and budget cuts, we do not have a home for these beautiful laptops. Currently I lock them in a closet at the end of the day and take them out every morning. We would love to put this beautiful donation on display for everyone to enjoy, view and utilize at any time.

My students truly enjoy using these laptops.

They truly inspire teachable moments. If a child is not sure of what something looks like, we google right there and it is present in front of their eyes. I would love to showcase this beautiful donation by having a wonderful computer table to display them for all to see and use.
