This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Hello Everyone! I work at a Title 1 school. 70% of my students come from low income homes. Last year, the students created a outdoor school garden. This year, our goal is to learn about sustainability. The students want to continue working on the garden and grow vegetables. They would love to to teach their peers about providing safe, healthy produce for the school community.

My Project

Our school has created a Green Team which the students are learning about sustainability. In order to maintain our school garden, we would like to add additional materials to grow a vegetable garden. We need to start designing a plan and having the proper tools to begin the process. We are in need of the following items 2 4x4 Vita Garden Beds Grow Grids, 2 Raised Garden Beds with Self Watering Planter Boxes and a Survival Vegetable Seeds start kit.

Planting vegetables will carry over for at home activities.

The students will learn about planting and may want to create their own garden. Growing fresh produce can help some of our families in the community who are in need of food.

The students will engage in various lessons about sustainability, planning and designing, growing plants, recycling, reusing and reducing waste.
